For centuries Guatemala lay in the heart of the ancient Maya world and from its giant temples and rainforest cities scattered throughout the country, it was able to exert an influence that stretched from the Yucatan Peninsula in southern Mexico to Honduras and El Salvador. Though the cities have long been abandoned, their archaeological remains and 6 million descendents of the ancient Maya remain today and are the compelling reason for our adventures in “The Land of the Maya” |
