“Kayak The Rocks” is a unique, world -high sea kayaking adventure on the Bay of Fundy, where participants paddle among the giant rock formations, known as the “Flowerpot Rocks”. Hopewell Rocks has long been famous as a place for visitors to explore the rock formations and the ocean floor during times of low tide, but only sea kayakers have the opportunity to experience the formations as they become tiny islands, flooded with tides reaching up to 46' . In mid summer, visitors also have the rare opportunity to paddle in the midst of tens of thousands of migratory shorebirds as they spend time here in the upper Bay, refueling for their long journey to South America. To fully appreciate the magnitude of Fundy’s tides, participants are encouraged to Walk On The Ocean Floor just before or after their kayaking adventure and to record on film “ a before and after shot” of their favorite formations.
