“WHITE CAVES ADVENTURE” : INFORMATION SHEET

Description:  The "White Caves" Adventure explores a unique two cave system that is well suited to beginners. Unlike most commercial cave tours, Baymount’s tour explores a totally wild and undeveloped gypsum cavern.  As a result, visitors have the opportunity to experience personal growth while learning about cave formation, safe caving practices and the preservation of delicate underground ecosystems.

Tour Length:  The tour lasts approximately 3 hours.

Experience:  No previous experience is required. This tour is an introduction to cave exploration.

Difficulty:   The tour includes a 1.5 km walk to and from the caves, over hills and woodland trails. The caves are natural and undeveloped and, as such, require caution while exploring. Upright walking is not always possible and a 4 metre crawl is required to enter the large "Bat Room" in the South Cave.

Restrictions:  Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Equipment:  Baymount provides safety helmet, headlamp, gloves, nylon jacket & pants, light snack.

What to Bring:  Participants should wear sturdy footwear (sneakers, laced walking shoes, hiking boots), long pants, long sleeve shirt, and a jacket (nylon shell).  Participants may get dirty.

Waiver:       All participants are required to complete a waiver form. (Youth participants' waivers must also be signed by a parent or guardian.)

Language:   English or French (French is usually available if pre-arranged.

Location:    From Moncton/Riverview, visitors follow Rte. 114 south approximately 30 minutes to Hillsborough.  If travelling from Fundy National Park, Hillsborough is approximately 50 minutes north (toward Moncton) on Rte. 114.  Baymount guides meet guests at the Hillsborough Wetland Park, located on Rte. 114 next to the Canada Post Office building.  Arrival at the departure site 30 minutes prior to tour time is recommended.

Payment:    $59 per adult, $49 per youth (18 or<), $199 per family (parents and their 2 children) plus tax. A credit card is required to hold a reservation   A fee of 50% of tour cost is charged if < 24 hr. notice of  cancellation is given or if reserved  guests do not arrive for their tour.  MasterCard, Visa, Debit or Cash are accepted for payment

Please note: Custom Group Tours have specific reservation/cancellation requirements.

Cancellation:  Baymount reserves the right to shorten the tour for reasons of participant safety or inappropriate behaviour which pose a safety hazard or threaten the delicate cave ecosystem.  Cancellations (non-group) are accepted without penalty with 24 hrs. notice. (50% of tour cost is charged with less than 24 hrs. notice of cancellation).  Visitors are encouraged to provide more advanced notice of a change of plans to allow others the opportunity to participate.  

Season:  June – September; Selected dates.   Custom Group tours are available May to October.
